The easiest way for a traditional dress club (Trachtenverein) to order traditional jewelry is as a group order: the Trachtenwart decides what belongs to the club dress, and you send us an email with the item, quantity, and club name. We have no minimum order, and tiered pricing applies to larger quantities.
Here you'll learn who in the club decides on the jewelry, how to plan quantities, and how ordering with us works. We are the Kube family from Bad Endorf, and under the name Trachtenschmuck Stephan we have been making buttons, clasps, and traditional jewelry since 1949, for clubs too.
The essentials at a glance
- Who decides: your club's Trachtenwart, the person in charge of the club's dress code.
- Inquiry: by email to info@die-trachtenschmuck-manufaktur.de with item, quantity, and club.
- Quantities: no minimum, from small runs to several thousand pieces.
- Prices and delivery time: you get them individually with your quote, with tiered pricing depending on quantity.
Who decides what belongs to the club dress?
In Bavaria, traditional dress clubs are organized in the Bayerischer Trachtenverband (Bavarian Traditional Dress Association). It has 22 regional associations (Gauverbände) and around 160,000 members. Gauverband I alone has about 117 clubs. Every club keeps its own Tracht, and it often differs from one village to the next.
What exactly is worn is decided by the club's Trachtenwart. They know which button belongs on the Leib (bodice), which apron clasp fits, and whether fashion jewelry, for example, is excluded. So before you order, it's best to check with them which items and finishes you need.
What clubs often order from us
For club dress, it's usually less about individual pieces of jewelry and more about parts that everyone should wear the same way. That's why a group order makes sense here.
| Part | Used for | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional buttons | Bodice, vest, Janker jacket | Size in Linien, 1 Linie = 0.635 mm (0.025 in). Button no. 2 comes in 18, 22, or 24 Linien, which is 11.5, 13.5, or 16.5 mm (0.45, 0.53, or 0.65 in). |
| Apron clasps | Apron ribbon | Bar width usually 25 to 35 mm (1 to 1.4 in), most often 30 mm (1.18 in). |
| Bodice hooks and bodice chains | Lacing on the bodice | usually 4 to 6 pairs of hooks, chain 2.5 to 4 m (8.2 to 13.1 ft). |
| Brooches and shawl pins | Neckerchief, chain | The acorn shawl pin is 68 mm (2.68 in) long. |
“It keeps the neckerchief and the chain in place. The shawl pin for the traditional dress club.”

Planning quantities
The most reliable way is to count on a finished club outfit: how many buttons are on the bodice, vest, or Janker, how many pairs of hooks are on the bodice, and whether every woman gets an apron clasp. Multiply that number by the number of members who are getting new outfits.
- Plan for spares: buttons get lost. A few extra pieces save you a single reorder later.
- Check sizes: for buttons, the size in Linien matters, for apron clasps the bar width. An old piece as a sample helps.
- Think about reorders: new members join. Once you've settled on an item, you can easily reorder later.
How ordering works
A group order with us is simple. Send an email to info@die-trachtenschmuck-manufaktur.de with these details:
- Item: name or link from the shop, plus size and finish, such as antique silver-tone or silver-plated.
- Quantity: the approximate number of pieces per item.
- Club: the club's name and a contact person.
We'll get back to you with tiered pricing and delivery time. There is no minimum order, and we produce small runs just as readily as several thousand pieces. Samples are available on request. You'll also find all the details on our Wholesale and Clubs page.

Are there grants for club jewelry?
Some Bavarian districts subsidize the purchase of Tracht, but jewelry is a different story. According to our research, the districts of Swabia and Upper Palatinate don't fund jewelry, and Upper Bavaria has no dedicated Tracht funding. We could not confirm the flat-rate grants from the traditional dress association that you sometimes read about. It's best to ask your regional association or district what currently applies.
FAQ from traditional dress clubs
Is there a minimum order?
No. We supply small quantities just as well as large runs of several thousand pieces.
What does a group order cost?
That depends on the item and quantity. You'll get a quote with tiered pricing as soon as we know the item, quantity, and club.
How long does delivery take?
We'll tell you the delivery time with your quote, since it depends on quantity and item.
Who in the club should place the order?
Ideally one person who coordinates with the Trachtenwart and collects the order. That way you get a consistent result.
Can we see a sample first?
Yes, samples are available on request. Just tell us which item you'd like to see.
